Dear Fifth Ward Resident,
My name is MARK HARRIMAN and I am running as the Republican Candidate
for City Council in the Fifth Ward.
Despite what my Democratic challengers would lead you to believe,
your next councilman will NOT be elected in the September 15th
Primary. To quote that Great American Sage, Yogi Berra, "IT
AIN'T OVER 'TIL IT'S OVER."
And it's not over until NOVEMBER 3rd. That's when you'll have
the chance to decide who is the best person to represent your
interests; who has the VISION, LEADERSHIP and EXPERIENCE to provide
the RESULTS you so richly deserve. I AM THAT CANDIDATE. To paraphrase
OUR MAYOR, there's no Republican way to shovel snow; there's
no Democratic way to sweep the streets.
Over the next several weeks (and over the course of the next
four years as your City Councilman), you'll be hearing a great
deal from me about my vision for the Fifth Ward and the City
of Providence. It's called the Pinehurst Compact and it sets
out a number of issues, initiatives and pledges which I will
concentrate on as your City Councilman.
Phase I includes the following:
I will not accept pension credits for my term as City Councilman,
nor will I accept a full time job on the City payroll. Every
position should be properly filled and all crazy loopholes should
be closed. I will explore innovative alternative sources of revenue
for Providence and protect the City's finances as we face the
significant challenges that loom on the horizon. I will donate
a percentage of my City Council stipend to charities in Providence.
I will work tirelessly on
your behalf so that your children can learn in well run schools
and that we can AFFORD to live peacefully in a CLEAN, SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD.
This page is not large enough to fully inform you about all of
my qualifications for City Council, about my business, educational
or community service background. That will come soon. VOTE, VOTE
VOTE in the Primary on September 15th. VOTE, VOTE VOTE HARRIMAN
on November 3rd.
Sincerely,
Mark F. Harriman
